This originally unadorned foyer was enhanced by adding upholstered panels of soft gold damask which continue up the grand staircase.  The dark beams were lightened with a soft mossy finish.  Two antique chairs were resurrected from the basement and upholstered in lovely Scalamandre floral fabric.  The rare coral lacquer antique Chinoiserie secretary adds elegance and creates an inviting place to correspond with old friends.
